RAISING ASPIRATIONS

Lincolnshire County CouncilChildren's Services are arranging a Raising Aspirations Event for Year 9 students from across the county. This event will be held at the University of Lincoln and will feature interactive displays.

HS Language Services will have one of these interactive stands.

The event will take place on 29th June 2010.

PPA Cover

HS Language Services can provide language tuition in your school to cover PPA time. We currently work in a number of schools in Lincolnshire, teaching across Key Stage two.

Emphasis is on speaking and listening, although pupils will be exposed to reading materials and some short writing exercises.

Games and activities are used to aid communication and teaching is through whole-class and small-group sessions. Pupils have the opportunity to work independently and in pairs.

Our scheme of work work relates closely to the Key Stage 2 Framework for Languages and we make sure we are up to date with new language developments.

We offer a ** FREE SESSION ** for schools in order for you to see how languages would work for your school.

Workshops

HS Language Services can provide training for non-specialist staff to continue language provision in between our visits. We can also provide training for non-specialist staff wishing to be involved in the provision of language teaching.

These sessions will aim to develop teachers' own linguistic knowledge and competence and to develop subject-specific methodology, as well as how to integrate languages into the curriculum.

The sessions can be organised as full day, half day or twilight workshops.

We can organise a full or half day workshop for your school, providing your pupils with a taste of the language and culture, and even the food! Our teachers are all native speakers and can provide a culture rich experience for your pupils. We can offer French, German, Spanish, Italian and even Russian and Portuguese!

Our teachers will run the whole session for you, and will use games, stories and songs, as well as introducing facts and anecdotes about the country and the culture.

TRANSLATION

Translation

HS Language Services offers a translation service between English and the foreign language. Any type of document can be undertaken; from price lists to websites, from letters to reports.

Our pricing is very competitive and we can offer a discount on all translations over 5,000 words, and further discounts on projects over 10,000 words.

Email us to obtain a free, no obligation quotation. Please remember to include the languages concerned and the type and approximate length of the document.

We only use qualified translators who translate into their native langauge and we will always match up your document with a translator who specialises in that particular field.

Call-off System

Save expense and minimum fees by using our call off system. Simply order the amount of words you think you will need over the next few months, and simply call them off as required.

This option is particularly useful if you have a lot of correnspondence to and from a particular language.

The course content was very relevant to our trip to France. The tutor had a huge range of resources such as train tickets and timetables and she made learning a lot of fun. We covered all the vocabulary that I would need and using role play we practised different scenarios that might be useful. The teacher kept a record of what had been covered in the lesson and took note of any wishes that we had so that she could prepare to cover that in the next lesson. HS Language Services was set up in 2005 by Helen Shaw with the aim of providing language tuition and translation services to local schools, individuals and businesses. Helen started as a Secondary School teacher and became disillusioned with the system, so branched out on her own to take languages into Primary Schools. The possibilities with languages are vast, though, as Helen discovered, and she keeps increasing the services provided. To read more about this, please see Liaison Magazine, pages 24 and 25.

In 2009, HS Language Services became a Limited Company.
